SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR HIGH STRENGTH BOLTS
The unique B14® material is Bulten’s contribution to enable our customers to reach world class emission levels through downsizing of joints with maintained performance. B14® basically allows you to downsize each and every fastener one dimension with maintained clamp load which reduces the weight of fasteners with 30–40%.
As clamp lengths, bushing diameters etc. are directly related to the bolt diameter you could gain additional weight savings of one to three times the weight saving of the fastener itself.
OPTIMIZED FOR CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
In order to verify the performance of the B14® material, tests have been performed by independent lab (SWEREA Kimab). A creep test with the B14® material at 15O°C, subject to 93% ultimate tensile stress (Rm), was terminated after 1800 hours with no effect on the material.
The test concludes that B14® is a very suitable choice for bolt assemblies in critical applications such as engine and heavy loaded chassis joints.
40% STRONGER THAN THE COMPETITION
B14® shows the same characteristics as 10.9, only with the difference that it is 40% stronger! B14® shows an equally low tendency to absorb hydrogen, which means that the risk for hydrogen brittleness is at a minimum. The combined strength and resilience of B14® comes from the fact that it is manufactured in super clean carbon steel.
